DOES YOUR CHILD KNOW WHAT TO DO IF HE OR SHE FINDS A GUN? How about if a classmate brings one to school? or if a friend brings one out at home to "show and tell" ?
Education is key. Start building their respect for firearms at a young age.
This course is taught by an NRA certified instructor who has experience teaching kids. This course is designed to introduce kids ages 8-17 to firearm safety and handling. Class covers firearm responsibility, safety, and proper shooting technique. A healthy respect for what firearms can do is instilled along with an understanding of universal firearm safety rules.
Open discussion about proper attitude, peer pressure and decision making is part of the classroom instruction. Students will be asked to sign the Project Child Safe Pledge.

* Proper handling of a firearm is covered at length.
*Parts of a gun and how they work
*Fundamentals of shooting such as grip, stance, aim, and follow through
An optional live-fire session with a .22 will allow students to experience the fun and responsibilities of safe shooting as well as put into practice the fundamentals that they learned in class. At the end of the course, youth will receive a certificate of successful completion.
***This course is specific to handguns. This is not a hunter safety course. Children wanting to obtain a hunting license will need to take a separate hunter safety course offered through the MN DNR.
